Gerald Bailey said he has known since he was 6 that his life would involve service to his church.
Bailey, 29, came to Iola 10 years ago to attend Allen County Community College. He also became a faithful member of Iola’s Harvest Time Fellowship Church, 329 S. First St., an offspring of his home church in Miami, Okla.
As a teenager at Harvest Time Ministries in Miami, Bailey served as youth leader in the church. On Sunday, Bailey, who received clerical training through the church in Miami, will be confirmed as pastor of Harvest Time Fellowship Church.
“My goal is to build relationships with people of all ages and help them grow in God,” Bailey said.
Bailey said he is especially interested in building youth programs in the church and eventually have the youth participate in Sunday services.
“I am also hoping to have potluck meals at least once a month following Sunday services so members of all ages can gather together and build friendships,” he said.
Bailey and his wife, Heather, make their home in Iola with their two daughters, Ryleigh and Sheridan.
