HUMBOLDT — Humboldt’s sole grocery store will soon reopen.

Scott Welch, Moran, announced Wednesday the old Moon’s Hometown Market site will become Our Market when the grocery reopens, sometime early in 2020.

Improvements to the building, including a full upgrade of the store’s refrigeration units, will begin in November.

“A lot of the cooling equipment is past its prime,” Welch said.

Our Market will carry an added feature — a custom butcher shop.

The shop will service both the grocery store’s meat department and as a location for customers to have their animals butchered, Welch said.

A portion of the store’s retail space will be eliminated to add the butcher shop, he said.

The building will be leased from Monarch Cement, which owns the property.

Devin Donaldson, Chanute, will be the store manager, Welch said. Donaldson managed Moon’s in the last few months the store was open before it closed its doors earlier this year.
