Customers shouldn’t notice many, or any, changes at Iola Office Supply, now under new ownership. MCCARTY’S Iola Office Supply will continue to have a large selection of office chairs, fax machines, calculators, computer and copy paper and an assortment of ink cartridges, as well as complete lines of Leanin’ Tree greeting cards and McCall candles.
McCarty’s Iola Office Supply will have the same hours, same phone number and stay in the same spot on the west side of the courthouse square.
“If they want to call and talk to the same friendly people they always have, they can,” said James McCarty, who acquired the store along with his father, Jim, on Friday.
The McCartys took over from former owner Ron Moore, but even Moore’s services won’t change.
“He’ll still do most of the deliveries,” McCarty said. “He’s going to help ensure a smooth transition. Being a past sheriff, he knows everyone.”
The McCarty family has been involved in office products in Parsons since 1959, when James’ grandfather, A.H. “Mac” McCarty opened his doors to McCarty’s Office Machines. That company remained an integral part of Parsons’ business community, and eventually expanded to include an office in Coffeyville.
“It’s a similar business” to Iola Office Supply, McCarty said. “They’re both in small towns. Ron has built a good reputation, and has had a good business, so that’s something that we were interested in. We had heard he was possibly wanting to get out, and we saw an opportunity to join forces.”
“We may expand some things a little bit,” McCarty said, noting his business also is a licensed Canon copy machine dealer. “We’ll have copier sales and service available.”
McCarty’s also offers online ordering.
“Just some tools to give people another way to order,” he said.
Business hours are 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
