Former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, along with former President Barack Obama, appeared together in ad to encourage Americans to get the COVID vaccine.
Four ex-presidents have a message for America: Get your COVID vaccine.
All the living former commanders in chief — except former President Donald Trump — banded together to film two public service ads backing the national vaccination push.
“This vaccine means hope,” former President Barack Obama says in one ad. “It will protect you and those you love from this dangerous and deadly disease.”
Obama was joined by predecessors George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter in the campaign.
About 10% of Americans are fully vaccinated as the inoculation effort picks up steam and a new one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine coming onto the market.
“The science is clear. These vaccines will protect you and those you love from this dangerous and deadly disease,” Bush adds.
The group sidestepped questions about the exclusion of Trump, noting that one of the ads was filmed during President Joe Biden’s inauguration, which his predecessor boycotted.
Trump has urged Americans to get vaccinated, and has boasted that the vaccines would not have been developed without him.
Unlike others, Trump and ex-First Lady Melania Trump were vaccinated in private and did not publicly disclose getting the life-saving jab until weeks later for reasons that remain unclear.
Carter, the oldest of the club at 95 years old, recently returned to in-person services at his Plains, Ga. church after becoming fully vaccinated with his wife, Rosalynn.
“We want this pandemic to end as soon as possible,” Carter says in the ad.
