When opportunity came knocking, Taylor Salzwedel opened the door to a new location for her business, Eccentric Nail Studio.

The nail studio has moved a few doors over to 23 E. Madison Ave.

It’s a much larger space in a prime downtown location, right on the corner of Madison and Jefferson. In its early years, the building served as a bank.

More recently, the building has served as a sort of business incubator. Audacious Boutique operated there for years before moving to a larger location across the street.

After that, photographer April Kroenke started her studio there before moving a block east. Kroenke operated a wellness studio at 23 E. Madison; it will swap locations with Eccentric’s previous spot at 110 S. Jefferson.

Salzwedel jumped on the opportunity to move to the corner location. She’s excited to have a more visible place on the square.

With the move, Salzwedel plans to become more active in the business community, such as participating in block parties and sidewalk sales.

She opened the nail salon business about a year and a half ago. She celebrates her 22nd birthday Tuesday, feeling a little more confident about her place in the local business community.

When she hosted a party to celebrate her one-year anniversary she quickly realized the cozy studio didn’t offer a lot of room.

But at 23 E. Madison, she’ll have more than enough room for such events. In fact, she hopes to rent the space for parties. It would be ideal, especially for birthday parties.

Salzwedel plans to offer much of the same services as before: acrylics, acrylic overlays, gel, nail art, manicures and pedicures for men and women, and even mini-manicures for children.

A lash technician will join her, offering lash extensions, lifts and tints.

She’s also planning to expand jewelry sales.

“I haven’t had time to think about it all yet, but I really love this space,” she said.
