MORAN — Marmaton Valley High School will begin offering a vocational construction class in the fall.
The class already had been approved by USD 256 Board of Education members, contingent upon an instructor being hired.
That hurdle was cleared Monday when board members hired Samuel Jackson of Fort Scott as the teacher.
The course will teach basic construction and repair skills.
In other business, board members accepted the resignation of Tiffany Morrow, second-grade instructor, while renewing contracts for all other tenured and non-tenured instructors.
One notable exception: speech and Spanish language instructor Julie Tholen’s contract for 2012-13 will be as a part-time instructor.
In addition, board members hired Terra Kegler as high school head volleyball coach and Jamie Stodgell as her assistant.
