After more than a year, movies will be back on the big screen in Iola.
B&B Theatres announced Monday it would reopen the Sterling 6 Cinema on May 27.
The movie theater was shuttered last March when the coronavirus pandemic restrictions began. While some theaters reopened over the summer, Iola’s was not among them.
“The past year has been devastating for the cinema industry, but as the fog lifts on the pandemic and studios remain committed to theatrical releases, B&B Theatres is excited to reopen the Iola theater and again bring the magic of the movies to a community that has long supported the family-owned and -operated cinema company,” B&B officials said in a press release.
The first movies available will include new releases “Cruella” and “A Quiet Place 2.”
COVID protections will be in place, such as reduced capacity, social distancing, modified concessions, and increased cleaning and sanitizing procedures. All employees will be required to wear masks.
