MORAN The annual meeting of the Moran/Marmaton Valley High School Alumni Association was May 26 at the high school commons area.
Scholarships of $250 each were awarded to 2018 Marmaton Vally graduates Isabelle Bigelow and Makayla Brooks. Emily Smart, the only 2018 graduate to attend the meeting and banquet, received a special $300 cash gift.
President Chris Elmenhorst called the meeting to order. Jae Bacon Pfeiffer (class of 1968) led the invocation and closing prayer. Kaysha Elmenhorst (2015) sang the national anthem.
Sam and Nancy (Shockey) Kuhns, owners of Air Capital Caterering, Wichita, provided the food.
Recording Secretary Myrna (Parsons) Wildschuetz read the minutes from the 2017 meeting. Judy (Ensminger) Welch read the treasurers report.
Special recognition went to Elizabeth (Snyder) Hodgen, who traveled 1,537 miles from Simi Valley, Calif. The oldest female graduate present was Lilly Norman (1945). Bill Burche (1944) was the oldest male graduate to attend. Burche also was the oldest veteran on hand.
John Sager won a 50-50 raffle. Don Lind raffled off several handmade woodworking items.
Proceeds go to the scholarship fund. Officers for 2019 were elected: President Chris Elmenhorst, Vice President Phyllis (Talley) Nelson, Recording Secretary Myrna (Parsons) Wildschuetz, Corresponding Secretary Ann (Morrison) Houk and Treasurer Judy (Ensminger) Welch.
