Moran man arrested for rape in Chanute

CHANUTE — Jerry Dean Sager, 62, Moran, was arrested by Chanute police officers for suspicion of sex and drug crimes following an alleged sexual assault.

The Chanute Police Department said Sager was arrested after an individual notified a detective Thursday about an incident in Chanute.

They spotted Sager at a residence.

The CPD’s canine, Nalu, was used in a search of Sager’s vehicle, where officers said they seized what they believed to be 4.5 grams of methamphetamine, along with other items associated with illegal drugs.

Officers said Sager was arrested without incident under suspicion of rape, cirminal sodomy, criminal restraint, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was taken to the Neosho County Jail. 

An investigation continues, after which information will be forwarded to the Neosho County attorney’s office for consideration of formal charges.
