MORAN — Saturday’s Moran Day celebration will feature a little bit of everything for folks to enjoy, from the popular parade and chariot race to the free bean feed and street dance.
And mullets.
The events kick off bright and early with vendors and food trucks setting up shop at the Moran City Park at 9 a.m.
The parade line-up begins at about 10:30, with a chariot race taking participants along U.S. 54 in downtown Moran at 10:45, just before the 11 o’clock parade runs from Marmaton Valley High School to to the park. A decorated bike contest will be judged for the parade is part of the fun as well.
A mullet contest immediately follows the parade at the park for all the Billy Ray Cyrus lookalikes. The winner will get a gift certificate to a local hair salon.
Kids games get underway at about noon, with a cornhole tournament starting at 2 p.m., merchant drawing at 3 and free bean feed at 4.
A pony pull starts at 6 o’clock west of the softball fields, and a street dance gets underway at dusk.
The theme for the 2022 celebration is “Moran Through The Years.”
