McKinley Elementary Principal Lori Maxwell won’t be leaving her post. Earlier this year, Maxwell accepted the curriculum director position for USD 257. However, Iola school board members Monday night honored a request by Maxwell to not take the job and continue as principal of the district’s southeast Iola elementary facility.
The curriculum director position, made vacant after Gail Dunbar announced she would be taking a superintendent position in Plainville, will be posted on KansasTeachingJobs.com.
In other personnel matters, the board accepted the resignations of Craig Knavel, technology assistant, and Kristin Michael, McKinley teacher, and voted to stop using the services of Kenneth Frohriep through the Senior Community Service Program.
Also, Lincoln and McKinley elementary music teacher Joseph Hand’s contract with the district was terminated and Gerald Sanchez was hired as a custodian for the district.
