The Iola High School gymnasium will be converted into a mattress showcase Sunday as part of an FFA chapter fundraiser.
Rows of mattresses will be laid out for testing from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“Go ahead and take a load off,” adviser Amanda Strickler said. “We’ll let you lay on the mattresses to try them out.”
A variety of 28 mattresses will be on display.
Mattress representatives will be on hand with the FFA members to take orders, with the chapter getting a cut of the proceeds.
Strickler, in her first year as FFA adviser, saw a similar sale last year in Ottawa.
“I thought, why not give it a shot?” she said. “If it works, great. If it doesn’t, we tried.”
Those who are referred by specific FFA members will get a free set of sheets if they order a mattress the day of the sale. The student also gets money added into his account to use for future FFA endeavors, such as career development events or conferences.
