Elementary school teachers Audrey Gardner and Scott Riebel gave a demonstration of a new online math program to USD 257 Board of Education members Monday night.
Called Triumph Online, the program gives students immediate feedback as to whether they understand a lesson, the teachers said.
Gardner teaches third grade and Riebel teaches fourth grade at Jefferson Elementary School.
“It measures data as soon as the student finishes the test,” Gardner said.
Gardner said she also integrates SmartBoard lessons with the Triumph lessons. Triumph breaks down each student’s progress on lessons in an easy-to-view format. Teachers can also search for lessons from online textbooks through the site.
“I absolutely love this,” Gardner said.
Triumph is used at the elementary and middle school level in USD 257.

SCOTT STANLEY, maintenance and transportation supervisor for USD 257, told board members a restroom in Lincoln Elementary needs to be adapted to meet Americans with Disabilities Association guidelines.
Stanley proposed that a storage room, which was previously a locker room, be redesigned into the restroom.
Board members said further discussion and approval of a budget will come at a later date.
SAFE BASE director Angela Henry was given approval to take students on a trip in September. The program has leftover funds from a grant it received earlier in the year and which must be used by Sept. 30.

OTHER agenda items included the approval of a 2 percent raise for administrators and a  25-cent raise for hourly classified staff.
The board dismissed as the USD 257 board members and reconvened as Bowlus trustees. Susan Raines, Bowlus executive director, addressed the trustees with building improvement updates, investment committee reports and a budget for the year.
