Kindergarten students at Iola Elementary School took turns ringing the historic bell last week. The bell was restored over the summer and is believed to have been installed at the first school in Iola in the 1800s.
The plan is to have students ring the bell as kindergarteners and again as fifth graders when they leave the elementary school.
