Allen Community College is bidding adieu to a combined 72 years of teaching experience with the pending retirements of Roger Campbell, Walt Regehr and Deb Erikson.
Campbell was hired in 1981 as a social/behavioral sciences instructor and cross country/track and field coach. Including 10 years as a coach, he taught physical education courses for 38 years.
After a 22-year career as an Air Force fighter pilot, Regehr began his career in higher education at Neosho County in 1997. He began his tenure with Allen in 2000 as a mathematics instructor. He taught math and economics over his 19 years at Allen. He served 10 years as the division chair for the mathematics department.
Erikson started in 2004 as Title III Coordinator.
She was hired as a biology instructor in 2007.
Erikson also began Allens first ever online biology course with lab, and eventually became the colleges lead online biology instructor.
The Allen student commencement ceremony is set for 10:30 a.m. May 4 in the Allen gymnasium.
Finals at the college are scheduled to run through May 10.
