It’s Christmas time and everyone is invited to the party. Local party girl Linda Sigg is gearing up for the holidays by offering patrons at her downtown gift and catering shop, Party Girls, free coffee and hot cider while they peruse the goods.
Party Girls, 7 E. Madison Avenue , has a diverse stock of goods. With shelves and racks stacked with everything from throw pillows and barbecue sets to picture frames and purse accessories, the shop has a feel normally reserved for upscale malls.
“We have a fun place to come to,” Sigg said.
When Sigg and her two daughters decided to open the store, there was no intention of selling anything but food.
“My daughters, they wanted to do something in catering so we bought this building and put in a commercial kitchen,” Sigg said. “Then we had the other half of the building to do something with so we turned it into a gift shop.”
Sigg said the three women wanted a store that had merchandise not found in most small towns.
“I really carry very few things in town that anybody else carries,” she said.
But if gifts, gadgets and clothes don’t suit the needs of a Christmas shopper’s list, surely food will. Throughout December, Party Girls has assorted or whole cheesecakes, of multiple styles, for $30.
Also on the menu as a holiday exclusive are caramel corn and cinnamon crust corn.
“We get calls for that all year round but I only do it around the holidays,” she said.
Party Girls is open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 – 3 p.m. Saturday. The shop will also open its door for the next two Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.
