The Wulf family is planning a party, and they’re willing to share the entertainment.
Country music artist Dale Watson will perform a June 26 concert at the Bowlus Fine Arts Center, thanks to a donation from the Walter Wulf Jr. family. Wulf is CEO and chairman of the board of the Monarch Cement Company of Humboldt.
The Wulf family is bringing Watson to Allen County for a private performance to celebrate the couple’s 50th anniversary. They decided to share him with the rest of the community while he’s in town.
Watson is a singer, songwriter and author based in Austin, Texas. He’s known for songs like “I Lie When I Drink,” “Cheatin’ Heart Attack” and “A Real Country Song.”
Ticket prices range from $12 for student balcony seats to $15 for student orchestra seats; and from $18 for adult balcony seats to $26 for adult orchestra seats. Tickets go on sale Feb. 25.
Tickets will be offered first to season ticket holders, and then will be offered to the general public.
Bowlus director Daniel Kays said he hopes to sell around 350 tickets for the concert, which will be the 10th performance at the Bowlus this year.
Even so, ticket sales won’t come close to covering the costs for Watson’s performance, Kays said. The Wulfs agreed to underwrite $3,250 for the performance, and up to another $3,250 to cover remaining expenses.
If the show hits Kays’ goal of 350 tickets, he expects a loss of about $1,430.
“It’s a win-win for us,” Kays said. “We’re not losing anything and we get our 10th event for the season. It’s a fantastic milestone.”
