HUMBOLDT Its hard to introduce a new and improved version of a product that hasnt officially happened yet, but organizers plan to do just that.
Rainy weather washed out Humboldts Day of PRIDE celebration May 19, so organizers regrouped and set up a new series of plans.
The updated Humboldt Week of PRIDE actually will be spread over 11 days, beginning Monday morning. Thrive Allen Countys Damaris Kunkler will provide a sunrise serenade with live music from 7 to 8 a.m. at the Humboldt Mercantile.
Fast forward to noon Wednesday when Hannah Andersen will provide live music for an hour at Stacy Cakes in downtown Humboldt.
The scene shifts to the northwest corner of the downtown square at 6 p.m. Thursday with live music from the Suppertime Singers, Haley and Josie.
Two more days of fun follow the week after next.
Kunkler will be joined by Pastor Jerry Neeley and Buckshot and Willie for live music at the downtown bandstand from 5:30 to 8 p.m. June 12. Several childrens activities, including rock painting, big building blocks and story walks are planned as well. Humboldt PRIDE will have a table along with several vendors.
The celebration culminates June 14 at Neosho River Park with a flag pole dedication at 6 p.m. Special awards will be given away, along with a hot dog cookout and rock hiding contest.
Punch card raffle tickets can be picked up at 18 local businesses and can be filled out during the activities. Those who get their cards filled are eligible for additional prizes.
