The cause of a fire that damaged the home of  Calvin Coday has not been announced.

Coday’s house at 3881 Connecticut Road, northwest of Savonburg, burned Thursday morning.

Volunteer firefighters from the Elsmore/Savonburg, Humboldt and Allen County Rural fire departments battled the blaze throughout the morning.

The home’s slate siding and metal roof made it difficult extinguishing the blaze, sheriff’s deputy Patrick Cash reported.

The Codays were home when the fire started, and sought refuge at a neighbor’s house.

An ambulance was dispatched for follow-up examination, Cash noted, but nobody was transported.

Coday lives in the home with his wife, Twila, and their adult daughter, Koi Ginder.
