Harry Clubine and Steve Strickler will lead a recycling effort Saturday in Iola.

Recycling will be available Saturday morning from 8 to 11 at 401 N. State St., the site of the Allen County 911 center.

Paper, plastic, cardboard and glass will be accepted.

Steve Strickler said he and “my guys” are organizing the collection and have arranged for Allen County crews to provide a trailer in which to haul the materials away.

Strickler, a local dairyman, has been instrumental in seeing that cardboard, especially, is kept from the county landfill. That effort has branched out to all recyclable materials since the local Rotary Club ceased its 26-year recycling program in December.
