Mother Nature may dampen, but it will not stop, a series of Easter Weekend hunts in and around Iola Saturday, with one exception.
Iola Area Chamber of Commerce Director Kelly Sigg said a 9:30 a.m. candy hunt sponsored by Russell Stover Chocolates has been called off due to the weather.
She was uncertain if the event will be rescheduled.
THE OTHER hunts are still a go, regardless of rain..
The Iola Recreation Department’s candy hunt is slated for 9 a.m. Saturday south of the Recreation Community Building in Riverside Park.
There are no age divisions, although the hunt is for youths 12 and younger.
A siren will start the hunt, with 24 golden eggs hidden throughout the main park. Those who find one can take it to a Recreation Department employee for a prize.
The prizes are limited to one per child or two golden eggs per family.
In case of rain, the hunt will be moved into the rec building’s gymnasium.
HEARTLAND Meadows will host its candy hunt at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. If rain persists, the chaos will be moved indoors, facility manager Leslie Weir said.
THE LAHARPE PRIDE Committee will host its Easter hunt at 2 o’clock Saturday at City Hall, with a drawing for gift baskets to follow the search.
Another treat — special eggs with $1 coins inside — provided by Commerce Bank and Community National Bank — will be included in the loot.
In case of rain, the hunt will be moved inside the gymnasium at City Hall.
THE MILDRED Store has a 2 p.m. Easter hunt set for Saturday in front of the store. The event likely will be moved inside in case of rain.
