The 78th Annual Moran Day festivities will kick off this Saturday with a variety of events and entertainment.

Vendors and food trucks will be set up beginning at 8 a.m., Saturday. At the same time, the Moran Methodist Church will be hosting its annual rummage sale that will go until 3 p.m.

Parade line-up will be at 10:30 a.m. at the high school, followed by a chariot race just before the parade begins at 11 a.m. There will be a variety of events at the park at noon, including games, merchant drawings, entertainment, and more.

A cornhole tournament, sponsored by In Step Dance Academy, will get underway at 1 p.m., followed by the bean feed at 4 p.m. The beans are free for all to enjoy. A pony pull at 5 p.m. hosted by Michelle Altis and Jay Franklin will be held west of the softball field.

Rounding out the day, a live music concert will take place from 7 to 10 p.m., along with a beer garden.

The Kafir Korn Carnival was first celebrated in Moran in the fall of 1938. Amongst the main attractions were the street dance, visiting of friends, and a coming together of the townspeople. Celebrations resumed after World War II in 1946 and the festivities are now known as Moran Day and held the third Saturday in September.
