Former bank drive-thru donated to group

Emprise Bank is giving its old drive-thru facility at 919 N. State St. to Your Community Foundation. The facility closed in October after Emprise added a second drive-thru teller lane, and new ATM capable of accepting deposits, at its main branch downtown.

Iola’s old Emprise Bank drive-thru facility has a new owner.

Emprise officials announced they have donated the building and surrounding property at 919 N. State St. to Your Community Foundation.

Emprise closed the drive-thru location upon expanding its drive-thru facilities at its main Iola office at 1 W. Madison Ave. in early October.

There, they added a second teller window and a depository ATM, where customers can make deposits to their accounts without use of a teller — essentially making the North State facility redundant.

By donating the building to a local group, “this is a way for us to give back to the community,” said Glen Buchholz, the bank’s president of marketing.

Job Springer, president of Your Community Foundation’s board of directors, said the group will take advantage of its office space.

“We currently don’t have an office building,” he said.

Alan Weber, who handles much of YCF’s administrative duties, will work out of the North State building. The directors board also will use the facility for its monthly meetings, Springer said.

They hope to have the facility ready for Your Community Foundation’s Day of Giving fundraiser set for Nov. 30 — the first Tuesday of the unofficial Christmas shopping season.
