Iola City Councilman Josiah D’Albini, who also works as director of advancement at Allen Community College, will speak at Monday’s City Council meeting about the college’s Scarlet and Black Club.

The club is an effort to open the college for residents 60 and older.

Those who enroll are offered a number of perks, from free tuition for college credit courses — members would still pay materials, fees and book rental — as well as free admission to athletic events and fine arts productions and performances.

Also on the agenda Monday are requests from Humanity House for free water for its community garden and from the Iola Rotary Club to host its annual car show at Riverside Park May 16-17.

The 6 p.m. meeting, at the New Community Building in Riverside Park, is open to the public.
