On Saturday, golfers from around the area will tee off for CASA, a regional organization that helps defend children in need of care.

The 13th Annual Father’s Day Charity Golf Tournament for CASA of the 31st Judicial District is at the Allen County Country Club.

Registration for the tournament will begin at 7:30 a.m. with tee off at 9 a.m.

The tournament is a four-person flighted scramble. Men and women of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to compete.

The tournament entry fee — $60 per person or $240 per team — will take care of green fees and cart rental. Cash prizes will be awarded in each flight. Coffee and doughnuts will be served prior to tee time and a barbecue lunch will be provided after the tournament.

The tournament is hosted by district court judges Daniel Creitz and David Rogers as a show of support to CASA, which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates.

The tournament is underwritten by Ash Grove Cement and Community Bank with upper-level sponsors including Nelson Quarries, Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center, Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, Hofer, Hofer and Associates, the Porter family and more than 50 other sponsors.

“We enjoy golf,” Patrick Clift, vice president of Nelson Quarries said. “And after we learned about CASA and the good work that they do for people who really need help, it just seemed like money well spent.”

While sponsors such as Nelson Quarries are newer to the event, Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center has been a long-time supporter.

“It’s something we’ve done for years,” foundation director Anna Methvin said. “They’re a great organization to support. With CASA being a regional organization that helps so many children, we thought it fell within the mission of the hospital to help support a great cause like this.”

CASA is a program that serves abused and neglected children before the court in Allen, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson Counties.

Brochures for the event can be picked up in the CASA office on the lower level of the Allen County Courthouse. Those interested in entering Saturday’s tournament can contact CASA Director Aimee Daniels at 620-212-4255 or at [email protected].
