Pastor Steve Traw’s message Sunday, “In-vestment,”came from 1 Timothy 6:6-10 and 17-19.

Myrna Wildschuetz played  “Follow Me” for the prelude and “Wayfaring Stranger” for the offertory.

Celebrating birthdays were Brad Fraker on Monday and David Ensminger on Friday.

Advent services begin Tuesday.

Pastor Traw leads Bible study at 3 p.m. Tuesday on Acts, chapter 13.

Around town

Joanne McIntyre spent Thanksgiving Day at the home of Greg and Jackie McIntyre. Also attending were Zack, Kady, Zoey and Kline McIntyre from Yates Center; Branden, Ashton, and Jaxen Birk of Gridley; and Jack Franklin, Iola. Beverly Franklin was unable to attend, but sent her regards

Later in the day, Joanne visited the home of her daughter, Judy and Bruce Cochran. She enjoyed the day visiting with Breck, Michelle, Breail and Baylea Thompson; Dora, Rachel, Coby, Mia and K.J. Cochran and Dora’s Mother Jewell; Ryan Cochran and Katie Barnes, Overland Park; and cousin Glo Smothers, Independence, Mo.

Jim Hinson spent the day and had dinner with his daughter, Diana and Richard Deeds, at the home of his niece and her husband, Debbie and Rolland Trahoon, Emporia. Also attending were Margret and Matt Wille and Tyler and Tagean Trahoon.

Jim received news that his sister-in-law, Martha (Jeck) Robinson of Ponca City, Okla., died Nov. 16. Services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ponca City. Martha was born and raised in Iola.
