Ideas for sprucing up lawns and gardens will be aplenty at this weekend’s Chamber EXPO. Because most require some investment, area banks and insurance companies will be on hand to help folks make and protect them.
On hand for the EXPO — Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Citizens Bank and Community National Bank representatives will be available to provide information about home loans, home improvement loans and checking accounts.
To get into the lawn and garden theme, Heather Curry of Citizens Bank said people will be able to pick up bookmarks containing flower seeds for free.
“We will also have a drawing,” she said, referring to the raffle-style giveaways that’ll take place throughout the EXPO.
Celebrating its 25-year anniversary this year, CNB’s booth at the EXPO will play off the bank’s birthday, said Connie Hill, CNB receptionist, and offer trivia games, bean bag toss and multiple giveaway drawings.
“The winner of the trivia games will be put into a drawing and the winner of that drawing will get an iPod,” she said. “There will also be an officer there at all times to answer people’s questions about our personal loans and our home loans and accounts.”
FOR THE protection side of home improvement, Personal Service Insurance and Iola Insurance Associates agents will be manning booths Friday and Saturday.
“We’ll have at least two agents at all time to answer any questions people might have about their insurance or questions in general,” said Loren Korte, who owns PSI with wife Janet.
PSI’s main attraction, he said, will be a $50 cash giveaway.
“You just put your name in a box and we’ll draw one out at the end of the day on Saturday,” Korte said of how people can get in on the prize money.
Michelle Bigelow said Iola Insurance Associates agents will man the company’s booth throughout the weekend as well, answering any specific or general questions patrons might have about coverage. In line with the others, IIA will have multiple giveaways during the event as well.
“There are several prizes we’ll be giving away, so many I can’t really list them,” she said.
For the youngsters, IIA will offer face painting and homemade cookies.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Bigelow said.
