Iola Public Library’s couponing classes Saturday are full.

“Our meeting room holds 64 people. The event was posted and within less than a week we had already exceeded that amount,” said Lesa Cole, public services librarian at the library, adding she had only anticipated 20 to 30 participants.

She was way off.

Because of unexpected high demand, the library offered a second class. The two two-hour classes begin at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

“The number of people interested in this program is astonishing,” Cole said, referring to the 120 people signed up for the classes.

Humboldt resident Stacy Wright, an extreme couponer who soon will be recognized for her skills on Oprah Winfrey’s cable network, and Walmart manager Jeff Livingston will address each class, offering tips and advice on how coupons are used best.

Cole said the library expects to offer more couponing classes in the future but hasn’t solidified a date
or time.
