LAHARPE — With steps big and small, LaHarpe has seen several improvements around town in recent years, including community cleanup efforts, several enhancements to the city park, an upgraded electric system and the newly reinstituted LaHarpe Day Celebration.

Now, city planners are hoping to find out if the community thinks they’re on track.

And they’re willing to give anybody who shows up a fresh baked potato for their time.

The next Real LaHarpe Community Conversation is planned for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at LaHarpe City Hall.

There, organizers will give a brief recap of the recent projects before exploring ideas of what should be continued, improved or abandoned for other work.

The other element from Thursday’s get-together to is to seek out additional helpers for various endeavors and part of an ongoing community engagement initiative.

Have a passion for keeping LaHarpe clean? Stop by.

On hand for the conversation are officials from the Kansas Health Foundation, which over the past two-plus years has funded a healthy communities grant to LaHarpe to assist with the endeavors; Thrive Allen County and other LaHarpe residents.

The event will begin with a baked potato meal courtesy of Simply Delicious Concessions and Catering.

There is no cost to attend, but those wishing to take part are asked to RSVP to Marcia Davis, community engagement coordinator at Thrive Allen County, by the close of business Monday. She can be reached at (620) 365-8128.
