LAHARPE — Organizers hope that folks who partake in the June 23 LaHarpe Day celebration will make many “Happy Trails” in doing so.

The annual festival coincides with the annual La-Harpe High School Alumni Reunion and features activities for festival-goers young and old.

“Things are getting pretty hectic about now, but it should be a lot of fun,” said Angelia Roney, LaHarpe Day Committee president.

Several attractions are new, including a mechanical bull set up at LaHarpe City Park to test the riding skills of anyone who dares try.

In addition, the LaHarpe PRIDE Committee is hosting the LaHarpe Day Heart of Allen County Fun Run that morning. Runners will start, and end, at the park at about the time the rest of the activities get started.

Registration for the fun run costs $15 for runners covering the 5-kilometer route or $12 for those considering a more leisurely pace for he 3-kilometer walk. Registration forms are available by stopping by TLC Garden Center in LaHarpe or by requesting a form from LaHarpe PRIDE’s Facebook page.

A car and truck show, motorcycle show and food booths and vendors will be set up that morning before the 11 a.m. parade. The theme for the 2012 celebration is “Happy Trails.”

Kids games aplenty will be offered through the afternoon, capped by a pony pull at 7 o’clock on the softball diamond.

Anyone interested in participating in the events, or helping out, should contact Roney at (620) 496-2260 or Marsha DeLaughder at (620) 719-7831.
