KINCAID — A man who apparently meant to rob the Citizens Bank here last Thursday is being sought.

The man, a white male about 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds, attempted to enter the bank shortly before 10 a.m., the Anderson County sheriff’s office reported, but was unable to do so because of security measures.

Employees told officers the man was wearing a navy pea coat and hooded dark-colored sweatshirt. He had on a skeleton mask and was carrying a handgun. When he failed to get into the bank, the man drove east on K-31 in a Jeep Cherokee that earlier had been reported stolen in Chanute.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has joined Anderson County officers in the investigation.
