KINCAID — One of the staples of a Kansas fall — the Kincaid Free Fair — is returning this weekend.
Organizers have crammed three days of fun and games for folks of all ages starting Thursday evening with a free bean feed, children’s cash grab, pedal pull and goat team roping contests. The Billings Sisters will serenade the diners at 6 o’clock at Kincaid City Hall.
Friday’s festivities include a turtle race at 4 p.m., with a twist: all of the caretakers must be 50 or older. The Mary Jane Holloway Memorial Pie Baking Contest gets underway at 5 o’clock, before the day is capped with bingo games starting at 7.
The schedule hits high gear bright and early Saturday, with an 8 a.m. 5K run or 3K walk, followed by a horseshoe pitching contest at 9.
Open class horse judging starts at 10, before food takes center stage at 11, with the Kincaid-Selma church dinner and the Colony Christian Church meal at the Kincaid Methodist Church.
A pie auction follows at 12:30 p.m. before the 1:30 parade.
A cornhole tournament starts at 3:30.
All the while, festival-goers can check out a number of arts and crafts, vendor booths and food stations. Kincaid Fair entries will be available for judgings
In lieu of a carnival, organizers have set up a series of Funtastics Inflatable attractions for all three days of the celebration. Wristbands can be ordered online at kincaidfair.com.
SIX are vying for the 2022 Kincaid Fair Queen, with the winner to be announced shortly before the parade.
