An agreement is in place for KwiKom Communications, an Iola-based internet service provider, to be acquired by WANRack, LLC.
The agreement was announced Jan. 13 in a news release.
WANRack specializes in turn-key fiber infrastructure projects nationwide, and provides high-bandwidth, fiber-based infrastructure and related services to schools, hospitals, libraries, enterprise and carrier customers throughout the United States.
The acquisition will carry no visible changes for the KwiKom operations in Iola, noted KwiKom’s business development manager John Terry.
The company will keep its name and workforce here.
KwiKom has established a footprint across 76 counties across Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Nebraska to provide fiber optic and fixed wireless broadband networks.
The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, according to the press release. The closing of the agreement is subject to regulatory approval, and is expected to be complete by the end of March.
“We are extremely excited to welcome KwiKom into the WANRack family,” said Mike Brigman, WANRack’s president and chief operating officer. “KwiKom has a proven track record of stellar customer service and capacity to expand.”
KwiKom has 20 or so employees in Iola, with a number of technicians and construction crews operating at locations across the region.
