Courtney Lair, daughter of Greg and Judy Lair, Piqua, was honored during Kansas State University’s weekend homecoming activities with the Young Professional Award.
The award is given to honor significant contributions in human ecology by a K-State graduate in the early stages of his or her career. Recipients must have demonstrated significant career accomplishments, as well as contributions to human ecology through publications, professional organizations and programs.
Lair earned her bachelor’s degree in apparel marketing, with a minor in marketing, in 2006. Following graduation, she moved to New York City to work for Saks Fifth Avenue’s online business. Two years later she moved to Bloomingdales.com as a merchant assistant in women’s shoes, its highest volume division. A year later Lair was promoted to assistant buyer and in August 2010 she was promoted to assistant buyer in women’s ready-to-wear.
Lair is a member of the New York Junior League, where she is involved in fundraising and event planning. She also is involved in the Tri Delta New York Alumni Chapter and co-chaired its annual St. Jude fundraiser.
Lair helps K-State students and young graduates with career guidance.
A 2002 graduate of Yates Center High School, Lair is the granddaughter of Richard and Lois Burris, Iola, and Virgil and Mary Alice Lair, Piqua.
