Jared Froggatte, a detective with the Iola Police Department and a candidate for Allen County Sheriff, will deliver the keynote address at Monday’s Memorial Day ceremony at Highland Cemetery.

Froggatte, rural Iola, served in the Army’s 25th Infantry Division from 1991 to 1995 as a scout and team leader.

Froggatte then worked as a farmer and enlisted in the National Guard.

He was with the 891st Engineer Battalion when those guardsmen were deployed to Iraq in 2004 and 2005.

Froggatte’s wife, Wendy, is a Humboldt Elementary School nurse.

The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. Monday at Iola’s Highland Cemetery.

Other elements, including the placing of wreaths at the Veterans Memorial, and a performance by the Iola Municipal Band, also are scheduled.

In the case of inclement weather, the ceremonies will be at the American Legion, 712 W. Patterson.
