As summer vacation days dwindle and broiling temperatures persist, Steve Orcutt figures kids need a break.
Orcutt, retired art instructor, will once again team with Iolan Lyle Kern for a “Moonlight Splash” Saturday at the Iola Municipal Pool.
All USD 257 students and their families are invited to the party, which begins at 8 p.m. Admission is free.
Orcutt promises youngsters will be able “to swim with the sharks, party with the piranhas or even dance with a chicken.”
Kern will provide the music, while Orcutt has a number of surprises in store for his “rockin’ swimfest.”
“I don’t want the start of the school year to be stressful for students ever again,” Orcutt said. “That’s why I’ve vowed to do a pool party like this every year for the rest of my life.”
To help publicize the pool party, Kern donned a chicken suit and handed out drinks to youngsters at the Allen County Fair.
