The Iola Public Library has closed its doors until further notice because of the growing COVID-19 pandemic.

Materials may continue to be returned to the book drop in the alley north of the library. Staff will work limited hours and will continue to empty the book drop, check books in, and respond to emails.

The library’s wi-fi remains on, and some level of other service may also be offered. Other details will be provided in the coming days, Executive Director Roger Carswell said in a press release.

Meanwhile, Moran and Humboldt have joined a growing list of communities altering their city hall access due to the coronavirus scare.

Humboldt City Administrator Cole Herder shuttered the door to all city offices this morning, after Allen County Regional Hospital’s announcement that it “person under investigation” of having contact with COVID-19.

City services will continue, Herder said. Bills may be paid online, by mail or by phone with a credit card. City Hall also has a drop box adjacent to the drive-through window.

MORAN City Hall will be closed to the public through next Monday, Mayor Jerry Wallis announced in a press release.

City staff may be contacted between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Utility payments may be made via the drop slot at the front of the building or through credit and debit cards over the telephone.

Also to be closed are the library and 54 Fitness Center.
