Three Iola properties were condemned and one was given a possible reprieve when city commissioners met Tuesday evening.
Owners of 410 N. Jefferson Ave. and 517 S. Jefferson Ave. indicated they will tear down those properties. No word was received from the owner of  511 N. Chestnut St., which also was condemned.
A recent change in ownership of a house at 417 S. Cottonwood looks likely to forge a renovation project, rather than removal. Bob Shaughnessy, who city officials said has a good record of repairing houses for use as rental properties, took ownership of the Cottonwood location.
All owners have 30 days to put their intentions into action. Demolition must be completed within 90 days of beginning the work, while repairs may take up to 365 days, City Administrator Judy Brigham said.
No other action was taken at the meeting.
The commission meets again Tuesday at 6 p.m. That agenda has not yet been set.
