Iola city employee Trent Rhodes died Friday, six days after being burned in an accident outside his rural Allen County home.
Rhodes, 41, had been at the University of Kansas Medical Center burn unit since the April 14 accident.
He had been cutting metal when a spark ignited his jacket, quickly engulfing him in flames.
Rhodes had suffered burns over 45 percent of his body.
No funeral arrangements have been announced.
Rhodes was the assistant parks superintendent for the city. He had been with the city for 15 years, minus a four-year stint from 2003 to 2007 after the city tightened (and then relaxed) its residency requirements for city employees.
Rhodes was married with two young children.
