Arvin Clemans with the United Methodist Church of Iola takes time to grill corn on a grill on Wednesday night at the group’s monthly community gathering located at the pocket park on Jefferson Avenue. Freedom Missions provided the grill for the cookout. The church served several hotdogs, along with chips, cupcakes, grilled corn, cookies and watermelon. The church holds the event once a month. Temperatures were hot but the shade provided by trees in the pocket park and a nice breeze allowed everyone to have a good time.
