HUMBOLDT — Visitors in town for the 54th Biblesta Parade enjoyed perfect weather for outdoor activities throughout the day on Saturday. Under sunny skies with little or no wind to deal with, 28 entries moved through the streets in front of a large crowd.
“I think the day went pretty well,” first-time parade chairperson, Shirley Fisher, said of the event. “Most of the floats were really good and made the competition hard for picking winners.”
The largest concentration of people centered in the city square where Christian music was offered throughout the day on an outdoor stage. West of the square multiple lines of children formed waiting their turn for train rides, inflatable activities or having their faces painted, while others watched a show of magic or petted a variety of animals.
“All of the committee and the volunteers worked really hard,” Fisher said. “I heard some say this was one of the best parades we’ve had. I think everyone had a great time.”
The Monarch Cement Company provides prize money for the float winners with the stipulation the cash awards go to an outreach ministry.
