Foundation awards health grants

Your Community Foundation has awarded $7,950 in public health grants this month.

The grants are made possible from interest accrued in a number of endowed funds since the Foundation was established in December 2012.

The recipients:

— Allen County Farmers Market, $250, to create videos and demonstrations on healthy eating.

— Allen County Animal Rescue Facility, $500, to offset the cost of spaying and neutering animals.

— Humanity House, $1,500, to help fill food baskets and stock the organization’s food pantry.

— Humboldt Chamber of Commerce, $500, to assist with the purchase of a public address system for public events.

— Humboldt Lions Club, $2,500, to help fund construction of a shelter house in the city square.

— Humboldt PRIDE, $500, to add blue blocks to the city square.

— Humboldt Public Library, $500, to enhance its collection of large print books.

— Humboldt Recreation, $1,200, to assist with getting equipment to fund a low-impact aerobics and strength training class.

— Wings of Warriors, $500, financial aid for cancer victims undergoing treatment.

In a news release, Your Community Foundation officials said the donations adhere to the Foundation’s ongoing mission: to advance the quality of life in Allen County and surrounding areas by building permanent endowments, fostering philanthropy, energizing community communication, helping donors achieve charitable goals and leave lasting legacies.
