Former LaHarpe Police Chief Michael Duvall will receive a suspended jail sentence for three counts of sexual battery.

Duvall, who served as La-Harpe’s police chief from October 2016 until his arrest last September, entered no-contest pleas Tuesday in front of Magistrate Judge Tod Davis.

According to the complaints, the crimes occurred in October 2016 and January 2017.

As part of a plea deal, prosecutors amended the original complaint of indecent liberties with a child, a felony, to three counts of sexual battery, which are misdemeanors.

Davis sentenced Duvall 12 months in the Allen County Jail for each of the three counts, suspended for 12 months supervised probation.

Duvall also was ordered to have no contact with the victim and undergo sex offender treatment.

He is required to register as a sex offender for the next 15 years.
