Iola traveled north to Carbondale on Tuesday where they faced the host Santa Fe Trail Lady Chargers and Anderson County for a volleyball Pioneer League triangular.

The Fillies fell in both matches. Santa Fe Trail beat  Iola in two sets 25-21 and 25-22 and Anderson County once again escaped in a three-set win 22-25, 25-17 and 18-25.

Versus the Lady Chargers, Piper Moore led with eight kills followed by Lauryn Holloway who had seven. Holloway also had two blocks and Becca Sprague had nine assists.

Paige Burrough had 11 digs followed by nine for Mia Aronson. Shaylee Sutterby had  100 percent serving clip over nine tries and Hannah Gardner received the ball off the serve 20 times and only made one error.

“We played good volleyball during this match,” head coach Amanda Strickler said. “We got a lot of touches off the block and dug the ball really well. The only thing that really hurt us was our serving percentages and our struggle to keep serve.”

In their home tournament last weekend, Iola barely lost against Anderson County and on Tuesday, it was very much the same result.

In the match, Gardner had 17 digs followed by Moore who had 14. Moore made it a double-double with 10 kills and following just behind her was Shaylee Sutterby, Lauryn Holloway and Ellie Carson with four each.

Sprague had 13 assists with two aces.

The Fillies will be back at it again next Tuesday at Burlington.
