A good time as well as a belief in goodness itself can be found in Colony this weekend, as the annual Colony Day celebration returns.
Believe There is Good in the World sets the theme for Saturdays events, which begin at 7 a.m. with registration for a Fun Run/Walk at 7:30.
The parade takes place at 1 p.m. Grand marshals for this year are school administrators Shane Walter and Travis Hermreck. Theyll lead a line of floats, decorated bicycles, vehicles, horses and more through downtown Colony. After the parade, the Colony Christian Church will offer an ice cream social.
A highlight of the Colony Day celebration is the pie-eating contest at 2:30 p.m., where the competition gets down and dirty as they dig face first into gooey, fruity pies no hands allowed.
A basket auction and pie auction also tend to draw large crowds at 2 p.m. A corn hole tournament is scheduled for 3 p.m. followed by a cake walk.
Drawings for prizes will take part throughout the day, with the grand prize drawing of a Great Wolf Lodge package at 6 p.m.
Kids can take part in a variety of games and activities throughout the day, with a cash grab at 9 a.m. followed by a turtle race at 9:30, and a bicycle rodeo from 10 a.m. to noon. The kids tractor pull starts at 10:30 a.m.
Finally, the day wraps up with entertainment by Broken Silence from 4 to 6 p.m., a supper at 5 p.m. and Family Movie Night at 6:30 p.m.
