Law enforcement officials remain tight-lipped following activity Tuesday in Iola’s 400 block of South Sycamore Street that included the presence of agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Several neighbors reported loud bangs as officers surrounded the neighborhood at around noon Tuesday.
Janet Patton, FBI public affairs officer in Kansas City, declined to elaborate on what prompted the activity.
“We do have a lawful presence in the area of the 400 block of South Sycamore Street,” Patton said.
Iola Police Chief Jared Warner referred all inquiries to the FBI.
