Musical stylings by Granddad’s Garage, also known as David Shelby and his sons Kyle and Tyler, will fill Creitz Recital Hall at the Bowlus Fine Arts Center on Thursday evening. Admission to the 7 p.m. performance of Christian and folk music is free but donations would be welcomed. Doors open at 6 p.m. Those attending the event should enter through the east or alley doors of the Bowlus.

“Growing up in difficult times, granddad’s garage was a place where we could escape the winter cold and be warmed by a wood burning stove,” David Shelby said. “The music within the garage was the highlight of many family get-togethers.”

Everyone was welcome in the garage, and when the music started, everyone joined in. Whether they danced, sang, played an instrument or kept time on a five-gallon bucket, it was a time of celebration, Shelby said.

“The garage is more of an idea now. In fact, we like to think that we have all come out of the garage. Now we want to bring the garage to you,” he said.
