Emprise Bank, through its annual United Way fundraising campaign, has raised $143,150 for various charities company-wide.

Money raised through the Chanute, Iola, Humboldt and Moran branches was given to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Allen and Neosho counties. The branches raised $1,694 which was recently presented to Kim Luebbering, case manager for Big Brothers Big Sisters in Neosho County.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is one of the nation’s most recognized mentoring programs which provides “at risk” children in a community with caring adult role models to help shape their future and reach their full potential. The Allen County agency currently serves six children.

“It is wonderful that we have the support of our communities in Allen and Neosho counties,” said Luebbering.

Big Brothers Big Sisters are supported by the communities in which they operate. The organization does not receive major funding from National Big Brothers Big Sisters or the government. Funds raised in the communities stays in the communities to help local children.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is in the middle of its “Bowl for Kids Sake” campaign which is the signature fundraiser for all BBBS agencies. People are recruited from local communities to form teams to raise funds for the agency. The bowling event is April 28 at Bowl Mor in Chanute.
