The arrival of a new vascular surgery clinic was discussed at the board of trustees meeting of Allen County Regional Hospital Tuesday night. The clinic will offer pre- and post-operative treatment, not the actual surgery, allowing patients to stay close to home for recovery treatments.

The initiation of an employee wellness program was discussed. The company that handles their employee insurance will spearhead the project, which is available to all employees with insurance. Coaches will meet with those who choose to participate in the program to set up goals to live a healthier lifestyle. If the goals are met, the employee is rewarded with lower insurance premiums. Also, employees who are already leading healthy and active lifestyles will be elligible for lower premiums.

In addition, the hospital has joined the Kansas Hospital Education and Research Foundation’s Healthy Kansas Hospitals program. This program focuses on nutrition and healthy eating choices.

Homecare and Hospice has finished moving into their new office and the old building on North State Street is scheduled to be closed June 30. Cleaning is still ongoing at the old building, including removing signage and letters from doors. Also, there is leftover office equipment in the old building. County health and mental health departments are taking a lot of the old equipment.
