A number of Easter egg hunts are planned for area youngsters Saturday.

The signature event is the annual Kiwanis Easter Hunt, set for noon on the courthouse square.

Hundreds of candied eggs will be “hidden” across the south and west lawns of the Allen County Courthouse.

The lawn will be divided in areas for kindergarten and first-graders, second- and third-graders and a section for fourth- and fifth-grade students. There also will be a separate section for even younger children. The starting gun is the courthouse clock, with the first chime at noon marking the starting gun.

If the past is any guide, the candy will all be found within a minute, so arriving on time is a must.

In case of rainy weather, the hunt will be moved indoors, to the Red Barn activities building at Allen Community College.

Other hunts on Saturday are scheduled for 10 a.m. at Windsor Place, 600 E. Garfield St. in Iola, and at 10 a.m. at Fees Park, at the west edge of Gas.
